ISLAND OF THE DOLLS, XOCHIMILCO
HELLO THERE!
just a dead baby doll. totally not creepy |
Just listening to the stories about this place gave me chills. Legend has it that Santana Barrera, the caretaker of the island started to put up these broken dolls in order to appease the spirit of a little girl who drowned at the canal. He collected abandoned dolls and put them up around the island which eventually turns the island into a shrine of dolls. While this crawling place may be a big NOPE for me, it gained many people's attention with its uniqueness attraction and stories.

Dolls hanged on the trees. |
the spirit cant just have one too many dolls |
smiles doesn't always bring comfort! Just look at these and see if it calms you |
more creepiness |
Some says that these dolls come alive at night, whispering to each other. Some also claimed they hear voices calling them to the island when passing nearby |
Even though I categorized this place as a living nightmare, I cannot deny it has its attractiveness. The island itself (minus the dolls) is a beautiful place. And for those who loves dolls or creepy things or both, this island might just be their heaven. This kind of place definitely makes the world an interesting place to live in.
